Dulwich College Seoul – Inspiring students to grow as global citizens

Dulwich College Seoul

An ardent supporter and sponsor of The Kiwi Chamber, Dulwich College Seoul has been a mainstay at our chamber events and activities, and over the years we have forged a strong and lasting relationship.

The international school, centrally located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, is affiliated with Dulwich College, one of the United Kingdom’s oldest independent schools, which was founded in South London in 1619. Dulwich College Seoul, the fourth school to join the Dulwich College International (DCI) network of schools, was established in Korea in 2010. It is made up of 700 students from age 3 to age 18, with over forty nationalities represented in its student body.

“Our long-term vision is that our students, parents and staff will build a more just, equitable and sustainable world,” said Guðmundur Hegner Jónsson, Head of School. “Our mission is to inspire students to grow as global citizens who make a positive difference in the world through educational values which include ‘excellence, kindness, sustainability, diversity and community.’” Dulwich College Seoul is educating its students to ‘Live Worldwise’ – to become well-rounded future leaders who are equipped to create solutions to the world’s challenges.

Highlighting the strength and leadership of the senior school in developing students, Mr. Jónsson added, “In under a year, Suzy Pugh has successfully cultivated a robust academic and social environment within the senior school, actively involving parents and fostering a sense of student autonomy and leadership. Suzy’s unwavering dedication to the IB diploma programme and her keen ability to build strong partnerships with parents serve as a testament to her passion for providing an exceptional educational experience for our students. We are truly fortunate to have her as a part of our team, and we eagerly anticipate the continued development and success she brings to our school.”

To gain a broader understanding of Dulwich College Seoul, Dr. Tony Garrett, Chairman of the Kiwi Chamber, sat down with Suzy Pugh, Head of Senior School, to discuss the school’s educational philosophy, and especially its International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, which Ms. Pugh commented was, “an empowering and transformative journey that nurtures critical thinking, global awareness, and lifelong learning in our students, equipping them for success in an ever-changing world.”
